The Goodbye Post

December 26th, 2011

You know how when your room gets so junky that instead of cleaning it you ask your parents if you can move. Well, that’s kind of what’s happening here. I’m moving on to greener pastures over at Blogger. I want to be a serious blogger and I think there is a cleaner format over there, so I’m out.

Please check me out at my new address here.

Movie Monday: The Green Lantern

January 1st, 2012

Yeah, so I know I’m a little late seeing this movie, but I have a good reason. You want to hear it? Well here it is:

I hate The Green Lantern.

I do and I always have. Even as a kid I thought the entire concept of The Green Lantern was completely stupid. “Hey, look at me. I have a ring that can turn into anything I can imagine.” That’s just lame and lazy writing if you ask me.

So when this movie came out, I didn’t immediately rush to go shell out $10 bucks of my allowance to go see it even though Ryan Reynolds is the love of my life.

So what made me finally go see it? Well, I also hate Thor. He’s all like, “Look at me. I have a big hammer. Watch out.” Once again, lame. But I watched the movie and I thought it was great! So I decided to give the ol’ Lantern a try as well.

Big Mistake.

While there were some great scenes. (Ahem…like the one with Ryan Reynolds in nothing but some tiny, tight, white underwear…) Overall, the movie was just so over the top and not believable. And yes, I know that it’s going to be hard to believe something about aliens protecting Earth, but hey, I believed it in Thor. Why didn’t I believe it in The Green Lantern? And the villain was pretty good and believable. Peter Skarsgaard did an excellent job. In fact, the movie might have been better if there was more of him.

Overall, I’m not really sure why this movie didn’t work. I mean it had great special effects, a pretty cool villain, and a rather sexy Ryan Reynolds. I should have loved it. But I didn’t. Several parts in the movie just made me roll my eyes or sigh with annoyance. There was nothing original in the entire movie. No surprises. Nothing stimulating…except Ryan in his underwear. And nothing that made me think that maybe I misjudged the Green Lantern. Nope, he’s still lame.

Best of 2011 Giveaway Hop

December 27th, 2011

Okay, so this giveaway is for the best books of 2011. Well, of course my three books are included in this giveaway. I’m mean, they aren’t called GREAT for nothin. You definitely have to read them. Trust me, you’ll want to change the title to Priscilla the AMAZING. So I’m definitely offering those. I didn’t get anywhere close to the 52 books I had intended on reading this year. But of the few books I did read, the ones that stick out for me are The Queen Bee of Bridgeton by Leslie DuBois and Songbird by Angela Fristoe. I thought I’d tell you a little about them and then you can enter to win by filling out the form.

Priscilla the Great Synopsis:
Hi,I’m Priss, an ordinary seventh grader with extraordinary gifts. As if middle school isn’t hard enough, not only do I have to fight pimples and bullies, but genetically enhanced assassins trying to kill my family and me! But with the help of my genius best friend, Tai, we’re gonna bring down the evil Selliwood Institute, an organization dead set on turning children into killing machines!

The Queen Bee of Bridgeton Synopsis:
When fifteen-year-old Sonya Garrison is accepted into the prestigious Bridgeton Academy, she soon discovers that rich girls are just as dangerous as the thugs in her home of Venton Heights. After catching the eye of the star, white basketball player and unwittingly becoming the most popular girl in school, she earns the hatred of the three most ruthless and vindictive girls at Bridgeton.

Songbird Synopsis:
There are defining moments in life when everything changes. For Dani Mays, it was the day she witnessed her brother’s murder. Afterward, she bounced between her alcoholic mother and foster homes until she found a permanent place. And a reason to want to stay: Reece Tyler. He’s her best friend, yet Dani wants more from him. Faced with losing Reece, Dani struggles to escape her memories.

My 2012 Game Plan

December 16th, 2011

So it’s time to revamp this blog. I gotta start getting motivated to post again. But I gotta know what people want and what’s going to get people involved. Here are my ideas

Monday – Movie Monday. I’ll talk about what movie I saw over the weekend.

Tuesday – Tuesday Tunes. I’ll give away a free iTunes song.

Wednesday – Yeah, I don’t know what should go here. Maybe I’ll make it Wednesday Winners where I announce the winner of whatever contest I have going through my newsletter.

Thursday – Trailer Park Thursday. I’ll show a trailer of the next movie I want to see.

Friday – Fiction Friday. I’ll do a book review of a great YA or MG book.

What are your thoughts? Any ideas as to what I need at this blog?
